Belarus: EU-supported festival to promote accessible environment for people with disabilities

On 14–18 August, Naliboсkaja Pushcha, in the Valožyn district of Belarus, will host INФЕСТ festival. Part of the EU-supported “Valožyn without barriers” project, the inclusive event aims to promote the creation of an accessible environment for people with disabilities.

The festival will be held on the “Bielakoriec” ecological trail, which the project helped equip with information stands accessible to blind and visually impaired people, as well as people with intellectual disabilities. Special covers and arbors with ramps make the trail convenient for wheelchair users.

The festival will consist of several thematic zones. The arts zone offers opportunities to visit a children's theatre and take part in pottery workshops and masterclasses, for example making toys and handicrafts. The sports zone visitors will be able to participate in inclusive yoga and dance classes, learn how to ride a bicycle, and play board games.

The INФЕСТ festival will close with performances by well-known Belarusian musical groups such as Akute, : B: N :, RSP and Tomato Jam.

The EU-funded “Valožyn without barriers” project aims to make social services in the Belarusian district more accessible for people with disabilities.
