EU-supported environmental initiatives in Belarus join fight against COVID-19

EU-supported environmental initiatives in Belarus have joined the fight against COVID-19 by delivering personal protective equipment to educational institutions and persons with disabilities in several regions in the country.

  • The local foundation Vozrozhdeniye-Agro delivered 1,200 medical masks and three infrared thermometers to three partner schools in Slaŭharad District.
  • Yanka Kupala State University in Hrodna sent 500 masks to its partners – Nursery/Preschool No. 45 and Secondary School No. 12.
  • The Hrodna Regional Farmers’ Association delivered over 1,000 masks, 200 medical caps, 100 lab coats and 40 litres of antiseptic to Kreva Rural Executive Council and several farms.
  • The branch of the Belarusian Association of Disabled Persons in Masty sent 300 masks to its project partner, the Masty Centre for Corrective and Developing Education and Rehabilitation, where persons with disabilities are trained.

These four organisations have received support by the EU-funded project ‘Civic engagement in environmental monitoring and improving environmental management at the local level’. The project is implemented with support from the Ministry of Nature and Environmental Protection of Belarus.
