Find out more: perceptions of the EU in Eastern Neighbourhood countries
A series of factsheets, illustrating the results of the EU NEIGHBOURS east’ Annual Survey 2016, was published on the 8th December 2016. The survey was conducted between April and June 2016 in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to assess general perceptions about the EU, the values with which it is associated, and EU relations with Eastern Neighbourhood countries. It also looked at awareness and effectiveness of EU financial support and the preferred sources of information.
Almost half of all citizens (45%) in the Eastern Neighbourhood countries have a positive image of the European Union, compared to just over one in ten who have a negative perception, while 63% believe EU relations with their country are good.
These are just some of the findings from the first wave of annual opinion polling reports published earlier this year.
The factsheets present the survey findings at a glance and across three main areas of interest, including: general perceptions about the EU, awareness and effectiveness of EU support and sources information on the EU.
As a part of the EU-funded OPEN Neighbourhood Programme, the EU NEIGHBOURS eastproject aims to increase understanding of EU support in the Eastern Partnership countries through improved communication. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
