Goethe Talents Application

Are you a young musician or starting out as a producer, DJ, or songwriter? Do you want to work professionally in music management, booking, run your own label, or get your music out to a more targeted audience? Are you taking your first steps as a music video director, PR professional, or music journalist? Sure, you’ve got some experience in your field, but you want to reach the next level: »Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs« can get you there. Apply now for one of the 250 places in this year’s two-day workshop programme!

It’s all happening on August 23-24, 2017 at Kulturbrauerei in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg. International music professionals will share expert knowledge in hands-on workshops and talks. Their experience reports and background stories will convey a realistic and practical view on working in the pop-music-business. This year’s programme includes workshops presented by Pop-Kultur acts such as author, musician and filmmaker Noveller, Egyptian musicians Islam Chipsy & EEK, and producer Throwing Shade. Singer-songwriter Haley Fohr will premiere a commissioned work with her project Circuit des Yeux and host a practical workshop, as will Hendrik Otremba of the group Messer. More mentors will be announced soon.

Welcome to the Goethe Talents scholarship application form!

We are looking forward to read about your music interests and experience.

Participants can choose between the 40 different courses in German and English that will take place uring the two days of »Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs«. And as the program invites applicants from all over the world, you’ll be able to network across borders and professions.

Applications open May 10th and run until June 14th, 2017.

An expert jury will then pick 250 participants for the sought-after spots in the programme. The participation fee of 40 Euros includes lunch and access to Pop-Kultur’s networking area for professionals.

What the scholarship is about:

Are you a young musician, DJ, composer, singer-songwriter, instrumentalist from a developing or transition country, and between 20 – 30 years old? Do you want to work professionally in the music field, with your own label or booking agency or want to make your music more target-oriented? If you have some early experiences in your field already, Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs will help you to reach the next level.

It’s going down on August 23rd and August 24th in a couple of locations at Kulturbrauerei Berlin. International professionals give personal insights into their work and share their expert knowledge through workshops, case studies and talks with you – lively and practical instead of dry and formal. Among them are Pop-Kultur acts such as Noveller, Throwingshade and Circuit des Yeux. More mentors & courses will be announced soon.

Once more the program offers spots to talents from all over the world. Hence, you’ll be able to network across borders.

Furthermore, in the run-up of Pop-Kultur from August 16th to August 22nd, we plan activities to experience Music City Berlin: studio visits, short mentorships in selected companies of the Berlin creative industries, listening sessions and meetings with scholarship holders of Musicboard Berlin GmbH. Other activities, such as visiting the evening program of the Atonal Festival, will be taking place during the week before Pop-Kultur.
