Job opportunity for experienced professionals in area of energy communities

The European Commission is looking for experienced professionals in the area of energy communities to evaluate proposals for funding under the H2020 Energy Efficiency call for proposals. The opportunity is open for both EU and non-EU applicants, including the six Eastern partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • knowledge of the potential of energy communities (consumer cooperatives, consumer collective purchase groups, and/or other consumer driven collective actions) to deliver energy efficiency services and energy management optimisation, along with renewable energy production;
  • good understanding of the key enabling factors and barriers for the creation and development of energy communities, including regulatory, technological and socio-economic factors; 
  • understanding of the technological needs of new energy services (digital platforms and blockchain transactions);
  • knowledge of the dynamics of collective actions in assisting consumers to form critical mass and to facilitate increased uptake of energy efficiency and active demand solutions and services;
  • understanding of the sustainability of different models of energy communities, both in terms of citizen engagement and financial viability;
  • very good command of written and spoken English;
  • availability for occasional short-term joint assignments with the European Commission.
