The World Bank has launched a global photo essay competition titled “Your Voice, Your World.” The contest invites young people (ages 14 and 20) to zoom in on their surroundings and capture their world through images.

Why: We envision a world free from poverty and disease. We can’t make this vision a reality without you. We need you to help shape our future. We want to see what you see, today, and for tomorrow. You are the present. Start by voicing your vision.

Who: You, if you are between 14-20 years old.

What: Photo contest for you to show your world —as it develops. What you think it needs more of, less of —schools, jobs, training, health services, or something nobody else has thought of? Show us what you see and what we should see.

When: Now. All entries must be postmarked by June 30, 2004.

Prizes: Being seen and heard by thousands of people around the world. Need more?

1st prize receives a Canon EOS Elan 7e QD SLR and $600 (USD) in camera equipment.

2nd prize receives a Canon EOS Elan 7e QD SLR and $350 (USD) in camera equipment.

3rd prize receives a Canon EOS Elan 7 SLR and $100 (USD) in camera equipment.

The contest winners will be announced online on the World Bank Youthink! Website in September 2004. The images of all award winners and honorary winners will be displayed online.
