Data on the number of NGOs in Belarus as of March 1, 2007

According to the Ministry of Justice, 22248 NGOs (231 international, 724 republican, 1293 local), 17 NGO unions (associations), 56 Foundations (3 international, 3 republican, 50 local), as well as 17 political parties, 37 trade unions were registered in Belarus as of March 1, 2007.

In addition, 1120 organizational subdivisions of political parties, 22021 organizational subdivisions of trade unions, and 11917 organizational subdivisions of other non-governmental organizations were registered.

Among the total number of NGOs, 517 are involved in physical trainihng and sports, 351 are charitable NGOs, 312 act as educational and enlightening NGOs, 162 are the youth organizations (23 children's including), 140 NGOs unite people with disabilities, war veterans and veterans of labour, 11 NGO are involved in scientific research, 98 NGOs unite national minorities, 69 organizations unite adherents of nature and historical monuments.

1091 new NGOs, 25 new trade unions, 25 new political parties, and 12 new NGO associations were registered during the recent five years.

In 2006, 85 non-governmental organizations (6 international, 10 republican, 7 regional, 59 town and city, 3 local), 2 republican association of NGOs, 54 Foundations were registered.
