1137 material related to registration and activities of non-governmental organizations were submitted in all to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, departments of justice under the regional executive committees and the Minsk City Executive Committee for consideration in 2004.

155 non-governmental organizations were registered (by 61 NGO more than in 2003), including:

·                    11 republican

·                    5 regional

·                    101 district, city

·                    10 other local

Moreover, the Ministry of Justice registered:

·               1 republican union of non-governmental organizations

·                       2 newly-established republican non-governmental organizations

The following organizations were registered and filed into the records

in the Republic in 2004:

·                    1124newly-established organizational structures of the trade unions

·             57 organizational structures of political parties

·                    1941organizational structures of other non-governmental organizations

The total number of organizations registered in the Republic as on January 1, 2005:

·                                             45trade unions

·                                             2259non-governmental organizations (245international, 726 republican and 1288 local)

·                                             17 unions of non-governmental organizations

In 2004 addenda to and changes of the statutes of 260 non-governmental organizations were registered (including: 144 by the departments of justice, 116– by the Ministry), 336 NGO seal sketches of were agreed, including: 146 – belonging to the international status organizations.

In 2004 the workers of justice bodies 4009 citizens were received by the workers of justice bodies in relation to the issued of establishment and activity of non-governmental organizations.

During the year  334non-governmental organizations were checked-up for compliance of their activities with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus and their statutes. In 264-х cases the managing bodies of such non-governmental organizations were warned in writing for non-compliance with the legislation and their statutes.

In certain cases such justice bodies has to appeal to the courts claiming for liquidation of organizations that had violated the legislation. The Belarusian Labour Party was liquidated by decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus for repeated material violation of the legislation. 

In total, in 2004 the courts made decisions on liquidation of 15  republican and international, and  23 local non-governmental organizations. общественных объединений.  No claim for liquidation was rejected by the courts.

69 non-governmental organizations made decision on self-liquidation.
