Resources such as the Internet, computers, fax machines and photocopiers have materialized around us rather quickly. Their existence or absence is an indicator of how well an organisation is provided for technically – one of the elements that ensures an organisation’s wellbeing.
At the end of 2003, a survey was conducted on our Portal that was dedicated to finding out how well equipped NGOs were with basic technical resources.
It turned out that, the majority of visitors to the Portal (57.14%) have internet access at home. 14.29% of them use the internet both at their NGO and at work (not at their NGO). Another 2.86% use internet resources of another NGO (including resource centres). In this way, 17.15% of those answering the question use the internet in NGOs. 5.71% of those answering the question have to resort to internet-clubs.
The graph below shows the presence and quantity of computers belonging to NGO.
As you can see, the majority of NGOs who took part are equipped with computers. However, a quarter of them still don’t even have one computer.
The degree to which NGOs are equipped with basic technical resources (found out via an internet survey) is shown in the diagram below?
