Pensioners' registration again rejected
The Supreme Court left unsatisfied the appeal against the Ministry of Justice which had refused to register The Elders, Belarusian pensioner' NGO. A decision was made on February 5, 2007.
Mr. V. Romanovsky, the vice chairman of the Elders, mentioned that the initiative group was going to arrange another constituent conference not later than within a month and a half. Such conference may be held as early as March, and the documents for the state registration will be filed with the Ministry of Justice. Shoulld the officials reject the registration once again, this will evidence of purposeful counteraction of the powers against official recognition of this non-governmental organization.
Initially, the documents for the state registration were filed with the Minitry of Jutice on July 14, 2006. In 3.5 months an official rejection was received. Such rejection was justified by the unavailability of the Minutes of the initiative group concerning convening the constituent conference, and the absence of certain delegates at the regional meetings.
