PREAMBLE
Since the middle of the twentieth century there’s an ongoing search of the ways to renovate education systems, providing transition from “education for the whole life” to “lifelong education” principles. Creating comfortable environments, allowing continuous education, receiving up-to-date professional knowledge and fulfilling personal educational strategy becomes the aim of educational policies.
According to UNESCO classification non-formal education includes study programs and courses, organized and held outside of traditional educational system, where results of education are not necessarily supported by certification. Lifelong learning Memorandum of the European Union states non-formal education as valid element of educational process due to its’ continuous nature.
Basing on the lifelong education principles, non-governmental organizations of Belarus in cooperation with Support Program for Belarus of German Federal Government (FPB-Belarus) have initiated holding the Non-Formal Education Festival, to
- stress the value and necessity of all sorts of education: taking place in an educational institution, in a peer group, in family, at work place;
- emphasize social, cultural and civic value of non-formal education, apart from its’ economical impact;
- express the necessity in supporting self-education in any age and any topics of human existence;
- show that education is brining not only benefits but also enjoyment!
- invite to cooperation all social partners, providing services in the field of non-formal education for youth and adults.

2. Discussing prospects and directions of non-formal youth and adult education development in Belarus.
