What amounts of pensions and benefits can be expected? The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare is planning improvement of people's living standard. According the Children of Belarus Governmental Program, the sum of monthly allowance payable for children under 3 years is going to reach the amount of the minimum cost of living (today the sum of uch allowance is 65% of the minimum cost of life). The draft National Demographic Security Program provides for increase of lump-sum allowances up to 5 minimum costs of living (instead of 2) at birth of the first child, and up to 7 minimum costs of living at burth of the second, third, etc. child. Financial support to large families is planned relative to repayment of debts under beneficial credits granted for construction, recontruction or purchase of living quarters. Tax benefits are going to become a considerable social support to the families that bring up children. The draft Edict iof the Preident provide for taxable base reduction to the amount of 4 minimum living costs per each child. Real pensions are expected to grow at leas by 150 percent by the end of the five-year period. No recalculation of penions is expected in January-February 2007. [Arguments and Facts, No. 3(1368)]
