Addenda to the laws on activities of political parties and non-governmental organizations
The House of Representatives is going to discuss addenda to the laws on activities of any political parties and non-governmental organizations at its sesion on April 11.
As Mr. Svirid, the member of the Stand-by Commission on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media said to the correspondent from BELTA, the word 'academy' will be excluded from NGO names (e.g. The Academy of Housing Economy, The Belarusian Academy of Public Sciences, the Belarusian Academy of Political Science, etc.). Such kind of NGOs were entitled to conduct examinations and issue the Ph.D.diplomas. But according to the Decree of the President dated June 2006 only the Presidium of the Higher Qualification Board may have such right.
According to such planned alterations and addenda, the notion of the Republican Commission for Registration and Re-registration of Non-Governmental Organizations will be cancelled. Previously, such Commission considered the issues of registration of any political parties and NGOs, and then forwarded the materials to the Ministry of Justice. Now, the Ministry of Justice will be directly involved in consideration of such mentioned issues.
