The International Humanitarian Law: New Callenges, New Ordeals, Conference on International Humanitarian Law
The International Humanitarian Law: New Callenges, New Ordeals, Conference on International Humanitarian Law will be held in Minsk (the Republic of Belarus) on 6-7 September 2007.
It will be organized by the Commission on Implementation of International Humanitarian Law under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus. The Conference is dedicated to the 100-th anniversary of The Second Hague Conference on Peace, which was a significant stage in the development of International Humanitarian Law.
At the Conference problem issues of International Humanitarian Law will be discussed, relating, in particular, to:
1. Actual problems of armed conflicts victims protection;
2. Implementation of IHL norms, relating to the protection of distinctive emblems of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (the red cross, the red crescent and others distinctive emblems);
3. The protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict;
4. IHL and international fight against terrorism.
