According to BelaPAN, after a High Court liquidized the NGO last year, activists of the former head of “Town Hall” Ales Milinkevich decided to organise a regional fund under the same name. Registration documents were given to the city authorities. Having held onto them for about 2 months, town lawyers recently announced that registration of the new “Town Hall” was to be denied.

According to Milinkevich, they announced that some of the documents were not in order and that they broke the Article 118 of the Citizen’s Code. However, a clarification of the errors was refused. Over the next few days, “Town House” activists will be preparing to appeal to the Lenin Grodno regional court, where they want to overturn the illegal action of the local “Verticali”. They intend to obtain detailed motivation for the refusal of registration, after which the documents, corrected to so that they will be in line with wishes of the towns’ lawyers, will be resubmitted.

According to Milinkevich, it is planned that “Town House” will be supported by Non-profit initiatives, directed towards promoting civil society in the Grodno region.
