The Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University in cooperation with the United Nations Office in Belarus and International Public Association for UN Studies, Information and Educational Programmes announces the Belarusian International Model UN 2003. The Model will be held at the Faculty of International Relations of the BSU in Minsk, Belarus from 3rd to 6th of November 2003. The Action consists of two parts — Seminar on UN modeling issues and the Model of the UN Security Council.
The Model of the United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations system. Students assume the roles of "ambassadors" to the United Nations and debate the current issues on the UN's agenda. Through diplomacy and negotiation, Model UN students seek ways that the world community can deal with complex global concerns such as the environment, economic development, refugees, AIDS, conflict resolution, disarmament, and human rights. Young people of all backgrounds and walks of life participate in these educational exercises to experience first-hand decision-making processes and diplomatic work at the United Nations.
The participation in Model is open for students and postgraduate students, youth workers or youth leaders active with young people within the framework of formal or informal associations, groups and projects; educators, teachers and project leaders, carrying out educational activities with young people in any form.
