6(675) 05.02.2004 A picket on the occasion of 9th anniversary of Vasilj Shust’s (Pinsk Executive Committee of the City Soviet of People's Deputies chairman) ruling was held on 29 January. The picket’s organizers – Pinsk activists “Belarusian Helsinki Committee” and Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Narodnaya gramada) – got local authorities’ agreement, though the action was aimed against the local authorities’ head. For an hour picketers had been demonstrating placards with the slogans “Nine years – no result” and expressed their negative attitude about criminal situation in town, low standards of living and problems with job placements.
