119(21785) 01.07.03 A charitable action “Sportsmen for children” took place in Slavgorod, it was organized by the Public Association "Belarusian Association of the Sports Press", a group of parliament deputies and a parolimpic committee. Stars of the World Sport and Belarusian musicians took part in it.

Index with a human face

125(21791) 11.07.03 According to the last UN data on the level of human potential in the world, Belarus took the 53 place in the list, consisting form 175 countries. Belarus is the only country from CIS, having such a “high level of human potential development”. A free data or index of human potential development was calculated on the basis of statistic data of life duration, literacy level, real income per person and so on. The leader-countries in human potential are the following countries: Norwegian, Iceland and Sweden. The report on human development for 2003 was prepared by individual experts on UN Development Programme demand.

Small Grants Project

132(21798) 22.07.03 The Representation of the Administration on Development and Cooperation of the Federal Foreign Affairs Department of the Swiss Confederation in the Republic of Belarus starts realization of its small grants project. The project is aimed at financial support for the NGOs, working in the field of minimizing consequences of the Chernobyl catastrophe and those working with socially unprotected stratum. The deadline for applications – 15 August 2003.
