10(4247) 05.03.2004 People in different World countries are speaking more than 6000 languages. On November 2, 2001 the General UNESCO Conference adopted the General Declaration on Cultural Varieties. This document mobilizes people to defend their native languages. On February 19, 2004 there was a meeting, dedicated to the International Day of the Native Language, held in the National Library of Belarus. UNESCO representatives, scientists and representatives of diplomatic missions visited the event.
