Chances of DIVERSITY: Youth Initiatives and Peacebuilding in Eastern Europe

In the context of globalization, societal changes and migration, our societies become more and more diverse. There are many factors for Diversity in society: ethnicity, language, religion, gender, culture or politics. Also in Central and Eastern Europe the topic of Diversity, caused by migration, becomes visible, and awareness, acceptance, tolerance and integration vary on a large scale.

For that reason, the Initiative Mittel- und Osteuropa e.V. has organized a 5-day Forum for young people from Ukraine, Belarus, Republic Moldova, Romania, Poland and Germany to come together, discuss and learn from each other.

Find out about your own perception and attitude towards diversity. Discuss about the topics of tolerance, discrimination and exclusion and work with the concept of diversity in societies as a way to prevent the spreading of right-wing ideas.

✓ TOPICS OF THE PROJECT - Together we will strive:

• To explore Chances and Challenges of Diversity in a society and your countries
• To reflect on Tolerance and Discrimination
• To learn about Diversity as a source of conflict
• To get to know tools and methods (Mediation, conflict resolution), you can use in future projects
• To learn about conflict prevention and dealing with post-conflict situations
• To develop ideas and projects in the field of Diversity
• To create a network of youth workers

You want to get in touch with young activists and youth workers, who are interested to make a change?

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Registered in Germany, Poland, Romania, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine or Belarus
• Between 18-30 years old
• Fluent in English
• Engaged in youth work, interested in the topic of diversity, motivated to initiate a project/activity aiming to deal with this topic, willing to engage in debates and exchange about the topic, willing to actively participate at the entire duration of the project

✓ COST COVERAGE

During the forum, we will reimburse travel costs up to:

• 180,- € for participants from Germany and Poland
• 275,- € for participants from Ukraine, Belarus, Romania and Republic Moldova

We cover costs for accommodation, meals and cultural activities.

The financial contribution for participants is 20 € to cover the running costs.
